Starter pack or build your own? The difference.

A starter pack isn't a different tape, it's a different way of ordering: fixed quantity, fixed specification, one price. The rest of the shop works the other way round – you choose material, width, length, number of colors and quantity yourself. Both routes end in printed tape, but not with the same result for everyone:

The honest recommendation from our control monster: if this is your first order of printed tape and your logo is single-color, the starter pack is the faster route – one decision instead of five. If your design is multi-color, you need a specific width, or you're taking more than 36 rolls anyway, you're better off building your own. From 72 rolls the first price break kicks in, and that beats any promotional discount.

One thing worth checking before you order: exactly what's included in each starter pack is stated on its product page. For custom orders the printing plate cost is a one-time charge – currently €29.00 for one-color printing – and it doesn't come back on any reorder using the same artwork.

PP · €139.00 · the price argument

Polypropylene is the standard in mail order and by far the cheapest here at €0.59 per 10 meters. The rolls are 48 mm wide and 66 m long, built for light to medium-weight parcels. If you're shipping high volumes, every parcel is under 5 kg and the budget is tight, there's no arguing with it. More widths and colors under PP tape with logo.

PVC · €189.00 · the color argument

PVC has a smooth, slightly glossy surface that makes print colors look noticeably more brilliant and contrast-rich than matte PP. It also unwinds more quietly and tears cleanly by hand. The pick when your corporate red needs to look red rather than reddish. 50 mm wide, 66 m long, with natural rubber adhesive. The full range sits under PVC tape with logo.

Paper · €199.00 · the disposal argument

Kraft paper with natural rubber adhesive, 50 mm × 50 m. Our data sheet lists the disposal recommendation as paper recycling or residual waste – which one applies to you depends on your waste contractor and your local sorting facility. Visually, brown kraft paper does something no film can manage: the parcel looks handmade rather than mass-produced. Built for boxes up to around 15 kg. Reinforced paper · €239.00 · the strength argument

The reinforced paper starter pack is the only item in this category with an embedded filament grid. That lifts tensile strength from 50 to 80 N/cm – 60 % more – and makes the tape suitable for parcels between roughly 15 and 30 kg, across a temperature range of −10 °C to +60 °C. Brown only. To be straight with you: the adhesive here is synthetic rubber and the filament grid is glass fiber.

What 36 rolls actually buy you

The price on its own says little – it gets interesting once you divide it across parcels. A 66 m roll seals somewhere between 40 and 80 shipments depending on box size. Across 36 rolls that's roughly 1,400 to 2,800 parcels. Run the PP starter pack at €139.00 against that and you land somewhere between five and ten cents of advertising cost per shipment.

And every one of those shipments travels through at least one sorting center, rides in a delivery van, gets carried, and is opened on somebody's desk. No other channel gives you that many impressions at that price – and none of them gets clicked away as rarely. Printed tape isn't packaging material with a logo on it; it's advertising space that happens to hold boxes shut.

With the paper pack, calculate 50 meters per roll instead of 66. Paper is thicker than film, so less of it fits on the same core diameter. Plan for roughly a quarter more roll changes.

Ordered – what happens next?

Artwork. Send your design vectorized as PDF, AI or EPS. Exactly what's needed – repeat length, design height, color build – is set out in the artwork guidelines. Our free artwork check reviews the file first for resolution, colors and bleed. No print-ready file on hand? Then our design service takes over.

Color. We convert your code from CMYK, HEX or RGB into Pantone so your screen and your roll speak the same language. One detail that often gets overlooked: our tapes are technically transparent, so light print colors aren't fully opaque and come out slightly translucent.

Approval and production. You get a print proof, and the presses only start once you sign off. From there, allow roughly 3 to 4 weeks depending on material. The clock starts with your "yes", not with your order.

Why is it always 36 rolls?

36 rolls is our purchasing increment – one box, one setup of the printing press. Below that, the setup costs more than the tape itself. That still puts us well under the quantities that are standard in this industry. From 72 rolls the first price break applies.

Can I print multi-color in a starter pack?

No, the starter packs are set up for one-color printing. For two- or three-color designs you build your order through the material categories. Each print color needs its own plate – a one-time charge, after which it keeps printing on every reorder at no extra cost.

Which background colors are available?

PP and PVC each come in brown, white and transparent. The paper pack in brown or white, the reinforced one in brown only. Other background colors run through the custom color categories using a sleeve plate.

Is the dispenser actually worth it?
