Cliché costs explained

What they are and why they exist.

What is a cliché, and what are printing plate costs?

To ensure your design is perfectly printed on adhesive tape, a printing cliché, also known as a printing plate, is required. This plate is created from your digital design and works similarly to a stamp, transferring your motif onto the tape.

One-time investment: These costs are incurred only once when the design is created for the first time. After that, the same printing plate can be reused as long as the design remains unchanged.

Standard cliché plate

For regular print designs

Each color in the printing process requires its own cliché plate. If the design contains multiple colors, a separate cliché plate must be created for each color.

Additional material costs

The production of each printing plate requires material and time. Since a separate cliché is needed for each color, the material costs increase with the number of colors.

Each color in the printing process requires its own cylinder (cliché plate). If the design contains multiple colors, a separate cliché must be created for each color.

This type of printing plate is needed to avoid a seam between motifs. This is particularly important when the adhesive tape should have a different background color. Unlike standard clichés, there is no visible seam between motifs!

Setting up and adjusting the printing machines for seamless printed tapes takes longer than conventional printing and therefore requires more time.

This stamp is created once when your design is first transferred to the tape. After that, your monster stamp can be used over and over – as long as your design stays the same.

If your design has lots of colors, each monster needs its own printing plate (aka cliché). More colors, more monsters, more material costs!

If your design is extra fancy, like with a background or continuous color areas, we bring out the "Sleeve Cliché" – a true monster that makes sure your motifs connect seamlessly! This means more effort, but you’ll get a print with no unsightly seams that’s sure to impress!
